No Gluten? No Cry!

If you or someone you know follows a strict gluten-free diet for medical purposes, then you are probably aware of the hardships it causes. Being able to eat only foods that are 100% gluten-free and cross- contamination-free kills spontaneity and makes eating out a fantasy. As we see those around us step casually into any restaurant or coffee shop they wish, we are often left behind with a dream in our heart and a tear in the eye😢.

Well, dry that tear and cry no more! The gluten-free gods have heard our silent prayers and sent us our savior, Itay Berlin.

When Itay found out that his wife wouldn’t be able to eat gluten again, he was devastated to learn that he needed to kiss their weekly "date night out" goodbye, since not even one restaurant or coffee shop in the whole of Jerusalem guaranteed to serve 100% gluten-free foods. Seizing the opportunity to become his wife's hero 🦸 (and ours as well), he opened the first 100% gluten-free Italian restaurant, Kazze, in 2021. The restaurant is located at Betzalel St.7 and has indoor and outdoor seating according to your preference. Inside the menu, you will find a variety of dishes like salads, pasta, gnocchi, pizza, and pastries. Some other items get added to the menu according to the season. The last time I was there, I enjoyed the thin-crust cheese pizza and the brownies.

Don't let the gluten-free label fool you. The food served is so good that most of the regular customers are those who don't even require a gluten-free diet at all. The quality of the food makes it an excellent place for both gluten and non-gluten-free people to sit and enjoy a meal together.

So next time you see your friends or family plan to eat out, don't stay left behind - take them to Kazze and eat like in a dream.

  1. Good for him! A small question, though - is it much more expensive than a regular restaurant?
