There is a joke in my family that it is easier to find kosher food in New York City than in Tel Aviv. A few months ago, I was traveling with my friends in Tel Aviv. When we planned our trip, we couldn't find a place to have breakfast. We were searching for a special restaurant with an atmosphere because we were tired of the chain restaurants. In one of my Google searches, I came across a kosher restaurant in Neve Tzedek. To be honest, I was shocked to find a kosher restaurant in this area, so we decided to give it a chance.
The restaurant is called Lorenz and Mintz and is located in the Shechter center. We made a reservation a day ahead to make sure we would have a chance to eat there. When we arrived at the restaurant, its location amazed us. Set in the beautiful Shechter center, the restaurant offers an option to eat inside and outside. We asked to sit inside due to the weather. We had a nice table overlooking the outside, so we didn't miss much. The menu had a variety of dishes so each one of us could find something she likes. Our waiter who was nice and smiley, recommended the best dishes and answered all our questions. Eventually, we ordered shakshuka and cubane - a Yemeni dish. Both dishes had a great taste and a beautiful presentation.
The restaurant met all our expectations and more. If you are looking to eat good food with a great atmosphere and service, Lorentz and Mintz is your place. Maybe it is hard to find kosher food in Tel Aviv but the search is more than worth it.
Hi Shir, even though I don't keep kosher myself - I can totally see why you a tough time finding a kosher restaurant in Tel Aviv. Some of my friends and relatives keep kosher so this place sounds like a lovely option for an outing with them. Great job!
