I recommend a patisserie/restaurant in southern Italy for all lovers of sweets and Italian food.
During our wanderings one evening, we found the ultimate restaurant - "Sal de Riso" in the small town of Minori, on the Amalfi Coast. What caught our eye was the long line for the restaurant.
We read the menu on the shop window and decided to try our luck. We called one of the waiters to ask if it was possible to make a reservation, and after realizing that seating in the restaurant was based on standing in line, we signed up. They told us the estimated time we could enter, and we continued walking around the town.
The restaurant itself is not fancy and is simply decorated. A courteous and pleasant waiter team welcomed us and started forming a slightly more personal relationship during the meal. It turned out that the restaurant's chef had made the wedding cake for Prince William and Kate, which was actually the reason for the long line. We also realized that the queue was made up of tourists and not locals.
The menu is a bit complicated: each diner receives a barcode to scan into their phone. Not all dishes are translated into English, so the waiters must explain what the dishes include. The good thing is this means the menu is always up-to-date. There won't be a situation that you order a dish, and the waiter will tell you that it is not available today.
We arrived at the restaurant with 12 people, each ordering a different dish. Everything was delicious! They served us pasta, meat, salads and even fine wine. Of course, we didn't give up on the last dishes, which are the restaurant's highlight.
We returned to eat at the restaurant several times during our stay in Minori.
In conclusion, despite the long wait, highly recommended!
Bon appetit!
Looks amazing, sounds amazing! I'll definitely visit there one day when I'll travel in Minori.

ReplyDeleteThey all look delicious, although often the very attractive cakes aren't so tasty. It sounds like this place has it all!
ReplyDeleteIdit, first of all, I understand that you're recommending a visit to the Amalfi coast. I was there years ago-- what incredible scenery. But I missed your restaurant...so now I'll have to return. Thanks for giving me a good reason.
